Questions & Answers

Hardwood Flooring FAQ

Answers to common questions about flooring installation, refinishing, repair, and woodcraft flooring.

How long does flooring installation take?
Most flooring installations can be completed in about one day, depending on the size of the project and site conditions. Larger or more complex projects may take longer.
Do I need to leave my home during the work?
Not always. For some projects, you can remain in the home. However, for refinishing or larger installations, it may be more comfortable to be away during parts of the process.
Can you match my existing hardwood floors?
In many cases, yes. Matching wood species, stain color, and finish is something we handle regularly. Some variation may occur depending on age and wear of existing flooring.
How many times can hardwood floors be refinished?
Solid hardwood can typically be refinished multiple times. Engineered hardwood depends on the thickness of the top layer.
What is the difference between hardwood and engineered hardwood?
Solid hardwood is one piece of wood. Engineered hardwood is layered for stability. Both use real wood on the surface and can look very similar once installed.
Is engineered hardwood good for kitchens or basements?
Engineered hardwood is more stable in environments with moisture changes, making it a better option for areas like kitchens or spaces over concrete.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. We offer a free basic consultation. If a project requires additional detailed planning beyond that, we'll always discuss it with you first.
What types of flooring do you install?
We install hardwood, engineered hardwood, laminate, waterproof flooring, cork, prefinished flooring, and custom woodcraft designs.
Can damaged floors be repaired instead of replaced?
Often, yes. Many flooring issues can be repaired without full replacement, depending on the condition and type of damage.
Do you do custom wood inlays and designs?
Yes. We offer custom woodcraft flooring including inlays, borders, patterns, and decorative elements that most flooring companies do not provide.
How do I maintain my hardwood floors?
Regular sweeping, proper cleaning products, and occasional maintenance help extend the life of your floors. We can recommend the best approach for your specific flooring.
Do you bring samples to the consultation?
Yes. We can bring flooring samples so you can see how different options look in your home and lighting.
